I haven’t really figured this out in my head fully, so not sure the analogy holds very far.
Bush was re-elected (well, elected for the first time) in 2004 and it looked like he would get a good portion of his legislative agenda through. Then along came Hurricane Katrina when it became impossible for even his staunchest defenders to defend him as anything more than a C-grade fratboy and dry drunk who had no clue what he was doing.
Obama was re-elected in 2012 and it looked like he might get some of his legislative agenda (whatever that might be?) through. Then along came Hurricane Snowden. And Obama was revealed for the corporate/security-state meat-puppet that many had been saying he was all along.
The drones didn’t do it for Obama, though they should have. People are not, it seems, that bothered by a bunch of towel-heads – guilty until proven innocent – getting whacked from above. They are bothered that their emails might be read… Who knew?
