Film Review: 16 Blocks

It’s nice to see David Morse getting work. He always gives such good aggrieved hang-dog (St Elsewhere, The Rock, etc). But this is diabolically silly and not very entertaining. Director Richard Donner is trying here to do another “Lethal Weapon thing”; white guy/black guy versus corrupt cops, bringing chaos to an urban setting. I think all of us – not just Bruce Willis – are “getting too old for this shit”, no?

And as someone said on the imdb discussion – with a voice as annoying as Mos Def gives his character, he should have been shot on general principles very early on.

Not for re-viewing, so on the pile to go to the charity shop (or “thrift shop” for the benefit of any Americans who may have wandered in).
