"Books: better than sex?"

Having a massive house clear out.  Stumbled across a scrap of the Guardian.  22nd July – but don’t know the year (pre 97?).    It’s a teaser for some article with the same title as this blog post.  And the text -

“When I fell in love, the new delight insisted I sell enough books to make space for both of us horizontally. When I heard myself explaining that it would be funkier for us to do it standing up, I realised where my true pleasure lay.”
